Project Overview

The project is to enhance the user experience and streamline the booking process for the largest resort hotel in the US. By conducting a comprehensive analysis of the existing websites, defining the target customers as families with children, and addressing primary problems through the creation of an empathy map, the project aims to overcome the challenge of obtaining sufficient information to understand customers' booking preferences.

Project Problem

The primary problem addressed in this project is the existing user experience and the inefficiency of the booking process for the largest resort hotel in the US. There are several specific problems within this overarching issue that need to be resolved:

  1. Complex and Confusing User Interface: The existing websites of the resort hotel may have a complex and confusing user interface, making it difficult for users, particularly families with children, to navigate and find the information they need. This can lead to frustration, confusion, and a negative user experience.
  2. Lack of Clarity in Pricing and Availability: Users may face challenges in understanding the pricing structure, availability of rooms, and other amenities. Unclear pricing information, hidden fees, or limited availability can create a barrier to a smooth booking process and may result in customer dissatisfaction.
  3. Inadequate Information about Amenities and Services: Users may struggle to find comprehensive information about the various amenities, services, and activities offered by the resort hotel. This lack of information hampers users' ability to make informed decisions and may result in missed opportunities to showcase the hotel's offerings.
  4. Difficulty in Personalizing Booking Preferences: Obtaining sufficient information to understand customers' booking preferences is a challenge. The existing process may not capture important details, such as room preferences, dietary restrictions, or special requests, making it challenging for the hotel to personalize the experience and meet individual customer needs.
  5. Inefficient Booking Process: The current booking process may be cumbersome, involving multiple steps, excessive form filling, or unnecessary friction points. This can lead to a time-consuming and frustrating experience for users, potentially resulting in abandoned bookings or lost revenue for the hotel.

Addressing these problems requires a user-centered design approach to streamline the booking process, improve information accessibility, enhance pricing transparency, and enable personalization. The aim is to create a seamless and efficient user experience that caters specifically to families with children, alleviating their pain points and improving overall satisfaction during the booking process.

Project Goals

1. Enhance Responsive Design: The project goal is to enhance the responsive design of the resort hotel's websites. By focusing on responsive web development, the websites will dynamically adapt their layout and content to provide an optimal user experience across different devices and screen sizes. The goal is to ensure that families with children can access and interact with the website seamlessly, regardless of the device they use.
2. Increase Conversion Rate: The project continues to aim for an increased conversion rate of website visitors to actual bookings. Through responsive design improvements, streamlined booking processes, and personalized experiences, the project team seeks to encourage more users, especially families with children, to complete the booking process successfully. An improved conversion rate will positively impact revenue and the hotel's overall success.
3. Implement User-Focused Personalization: Personalization remains a key focus of the project. By leveraging customer data and preferences, the project aims to implement user-focused personalization strategies within the responsive design. This will enable the booking process to provide tailored recommendations, customized offers, and personalized content, fostering a deeper connection with users and enhancing their booking experience.
